SURFING IN SIARGAO
Whether it’s your first time on a board or you’re already catching green waves and want to progress, your surf week is built around you. Our coaches adapt each session to your level, confidence and goals, then choose where to surf according to the conditions that day.
Based in North Siargao, we have access to a variety of waves and the local knowledge to make the most of them.
Instead of sending everyone to the same break, we look at the swell, wind, tide and ability of each group before deciding where to surf. Less time wondering where to go, more time surfing the conditions that suit you.

LOCATION & SURF CHECK
Each day, our team checks the swell, wind and tide and uses local knowledge to choose the most suitable surf spot for each group. Your level and confidence are part of that decision too, so the goal is always to put you in conditions where you can surf, learn and progress.
YOUR SURF COACHING
Whether it’s your first time surfing or you already have experience in the water, your coaching starts with understanding your level, confidence and goals.
If you’re completely new to surfing, your coach will introduce you to the conditions, your board and the fundamentals before you head into the water. If you already surf, the focus shifts to the areas that will help you progress : from positioning and wave selection to take-off, technique and confidence.
Your first lesson starts on land with a warm-up, an introduction to the surf spot and your board, followed by the fundamentals of positioning, paddling and getting to your feet. Your coach will adapt the technique to you rather than expecting everyone to learn in exactly the same way.
Before entering the water, we’ll also cover the essential safety points and what to expect in the surf.
From there, each session builds on the last. The aim isn’t to rush your progression — it’s to help you become more confident, independent and comfortable in the water throughout your stay.
SURF THEORY & VIDEO ANALYSIS
Progress doesn’t stop when you leave the water. Surf theory and video analysis are included in your stay, giving you the chance to understand your technique, see what is happening on the wave and take clear feedback into your next surf session.
SURF. SLOW DOWN. REPEAT.
Surfing is only part of what makes a week here special. Between sessions, life slows down — share meals with the group, stretch out with yoga, explore the north of the island or simply relax back at the retreat. With a maximum of 10 guests, there’s time to connect with the people around you without losing the freedom to do your own thing. It’s a simple rhythm: surf, eat well, recover, explore and do it all again the next day.
FIND YOUR LEVEL
LEVEL 1.1 : Total beginners
LEVEL 1.2 : Beginner who has tried surfing a couple of times before
This is a challenging stage for both – you and our coaches – because in some surf schools you had before, the techniques used differ from the ones that we use. Therefore, we stick with the ISA method of teaching.

– Learning how to slow down or accelerate according to the section of the wave
– Correct stance
LEVEL 1.3 : Advanced beginner

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The lesson time is usually fixed the night before, making it easier for the planning. The timing depends on the best surf conditions for your level.
Usually for the Level 1 surfers, we use the soft tops for the first days, before we can call yourself an advanced beginner and the instructor decides for you the hard tops. For level 2 sand above, there is a range of hard tops which we can select from.
If you’re having your first go at surfing or have had a lesson or two in the past, we will start from the basics.
The basics include introduction to the surf board, the surfing spot, a warm up, a dry session on the beach explaining the basics of the pop up and safety techniques, and then going to catch the first waves in our sub-tropical waters.
Every morning we will do a surf check online and with our local surfing friends and decide which beaches to head to. This will depend on factors such as your ability level and the swell conditions. This means that the chances are high that you’ll have ideal conditions whatever level of surfer you are.
Your instructor brings you to the surf spot which brings the best conditions. After an effective warm up your surf coach will show you teach you and help you to improve your techniques. Have the time of your life! After 2 – 3 hours (driving included and depending on the location), the surf session is over. You collect your board and the equipment and leave the beach together with your group to go back to the Surf & Yoga Camp.
You definitely have a special connection with your own board, therefore if it’s convenient for you, we suggest that you bring your own board.
Yes, the surf board is included in the lesson for the duration of the surf class. We also provide you with the rash guard.
